Go Global |
|
CAD International today announced its commitment to the globalisation
of its core CAD engine and has begun translation of the software
interface into several key languages including Chinese, French,
and Spanish which will then be followed by German and Japanese.
The translation process of any technical software requires
specialised expertise as the terminology of the product is often
beyond normal day to day language used by lay people.
The translation process opens the market even further for all
the applications which use the CAD engine as their foundation,
reducing the time to market for the application. Manuals and
tutorials present the greatest challenges as they go beyond simple
words and phrases, and are subject to intense scrutiny as users
challenge themselves in the learning phases.
It is expected that the Chinese version of the core software
will be available in June followed closely by the other languages.
Manuals and tutorials will also then be developed. |

Bricsys Partner with CAD International |
|
For a long time, StrucPLUS, the market leader in structural
detailing software, has piggy-backed onto existing AutoCAD platforms
including, with a Lisp Enabler, AutoCAD LT. Other AutoCAD 'clone'
software such as IntelliCAD has also been supported but due to
limitations in the API support of IntelliCAD the full power of
StrucPLUS could not always be realised.
Bricsys, developers of Bricscad, have worked hard to address
this problem in a bid to capture hundreds, if not thousands of
existing application developers who traditionally could only
work with AutoCAD. StrucPLUS is one of the first applications
to partner with the Bricscad engine to provide what is essentially
a complete stand alone option for its clients at a fraction of
the cost of AutoCAD. After a few teething problems it would appear
to be a great marriage.
CAD International will continue to develop and support StrucPLUS
for AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT, including support for v2009. |

Users Scared by 2009 |
|
Autodesk have launched the new look AutoCAD 2009, and to many
existing users the new look and feel has them scared. Luckily
you can wind back the clock and reset the software to look and
feel like earlier verisons of the product. The new interface
is in line with Microsofts Vista look and feel and groups the
tool sets in a way that should attract new users. Existing users
should be able to adapt to the new interface over time. Find

The new update addresses several support issues and introduces
some more functionality to hold this product as the global leader
in its class.
Improvements include

correctly.
3. When using a dual screen computer system the Layer
Window will appear on the correct screen.

to really easily allow locating a desired position in 3D space
that relates to three other posible locations that already exist
in the 3D model.
5. Common dimensioning is now allowed from either the
left or right in the same drawing.
6. Style Selection Window now allows any letter to be
used from the keyboard to quickly access the desired style name...
temporarily disabling the normal macro function for that letter.

into a Word document - the lines dot spaceing is now adjusted
to match the screen scale and looks correct in other Window's

12. Untick change check box on change dialogs is now OK
13. User Defined Hatch Patterns created without the correct
defining corner points no longer hangs or slows the system when
the hatch is used in a drawing.

When is FREE really Free? |
|
The old adage that 'nothing in life is free' seems so true,
especially when it comes to the mountains of offers we see every
day on bill boards and TV screens... As consumers how do we know
what the hidden costs are for entering into something that appears
to be free?... Simply put, the buyer must carefully read the
fine print to be sure that FREE is not an acronym for a Flatly
Rather Expensive Exercise!
Knowing that the word FREE will capture a readers attention,
and yet wanting to be sure it does not lose its effect, CAD International's
marketers devised a simple plan that would actually make the
words FREE have real meaning to its prospects....they actually
decided to give something of real value away absolutely FREE!
...what a novel idea!
The campaign is currently specific to LANDWorksCAD software
for various states in the US and across the entire UK and Canada.
CAD International's marketers are 'seeding' regions that have
not yet embraced the software, by literally giving the software
away to use for a period of time. So what's the small print?...The
only prerequisite is that users must enrol in an online training
course and take the technical support option. Simple.

Did you Know?... |
|
...that almost all software you buy today has a 'did you know'
section to inform its users of useful tips and tricks that make
using the software easier and faster...and did you know that
less than 5% of users actually look at this section of the software!
Power users do. A recent study of user's habits revealed that
the top 20% of users have read the manuals and made use of the
'did you know' sections of the software... and the top 5% have
attended a class, personal or online training course.
If you are a RealCAD user or LANDWorksCAD user you will also
have discovered that the 'did you know' section also has some
real 'gems' for living life, or playing Trivial Pursuit too! |
