"Lumion workflow is simple. It typically won't take you more than an hour to add all the objects and adjust textures."
June 2013 edition of American Landscape Architecture Magazine.

This is what great workflow looks like

  • Plug-ins are available for Archicad and Revit
  • Direct support for Sketchup (.skp) files
  • Many file types including .DAE, .FBX, .SKP and .DWG files can be imported into Lumion from many CAD software packages

Lumion works wonders when you create multiple iterations of your model over time. Even after you imported your model you can quickly update your models with a single click of a button. It will import your updated model file and re-apply all the changes you made in Lumion.

Top 5 reasons why people buy Lumion

1. You can do it yourself

Lumion enables anyone to create movies and images without any prior training. This means you can do everything yourself and you do not have to spend time or money on external visualizations. Lumion is a complete solution to create images and visualizations from start to finish. All you need is a model and Lumion will take care of the rest. With Lumion you get years of experience of computer graphics experts presented in a way that's easy to access.

2. Very fast results

You can edit your work in real-time and everything is designed to save you time. This means you can set up a visualization in just a few minutes and make alterations as you go. End results are rendered using GPU rendering technology. This ensures that your movies render in a fraction of the time required by other solutions. With Lumion you have more than enough time for videos in situations where you would normally have to settle for still images.

3. Make your visualizations look beautiful

Rendering is just one of the things necessary to create effective visualizations. To create wonderful visuals you also need beautiful skies, water, grass, materials, plants, people, trees and many other objects. Usually you will have to hire people to create these extra assets for you or find a third party content library. Lumion includes a huge library of tools and content. Everything is perfectly integrated so you can immediately add trees, people and other content to breathe life and atmosphere into your visualizations.

4. Do new things with visualization

Traditionally visualization comes with many restrictions. Rendering takes a long time and software is almost always complex. Lumion completely turns this upside down by providing tools anybody can use. No training in graphics is required. Editing and rendering are almost instantaneous and this opens doors to new ways for your business to use the possibilties that visualization offers. For example, you can customize a video in real-time on the spot or you can add sketch effects to your visualization instantaneously with a click of your mouse, which immediately furnishes your work with a conceptual and artistic feel.

5. Create big visualizations

A lot of software struggles with large models or large areas. The unique technology of Lumion makes it very suitable for things like landscape visualization. Effortlessly, you can edit large areas and add literally tens of thousands of trees, plants or buildings. We get a lot of feedback from our users that Lumion currently is the only software in the world which allows you to effortlessly edit and render such large areas. We've even had examples of a whole towns visualized in Lumion!

Will Lumion run on your laptop PC?

Lumion requires a PC with a fast NVIDIA or AMD graphics card with at least 2GB memory. If your laptop PC has a slow graphics card with less memory, or, if it only has an Intel HD graphics card, then your laptop PC is unsuitable for Lumion. The result will be graphics errors and driver crashes if you try to use Lumion. Please click here to see if you can run Lumion on your laptop PC.

‚Äč Which graphics card do you need?

Your graphics card must have a minimum of 2,000 PassMark points on this benchmark list and at least 2GB memory. Click here to find out which graphics card your PC has. If you want to work on more complex scenes with more models and materials you will need a graphics card with more PassMark points and memory:

  • Simple scenes: (e.g. a small building/interior without much detail) Minimum 2,000 PassMark points and 2GB dedicated graphics card memory (VRAM).
Examples: GeForce GTX 745, Quadro K4000M, GeForce GTX 570M.

Minimum 8,000 PassMark points and 6GB dedicated graphics card memory (VRAM).
Examples: NVIDIA GTX Titan, Quadro K6000.
  • Ultra complex scenes: (e.g. a super detailed city, airport or stadium)
Minimum 10,000 PassMark points and 6GB dedicated graphics card memory (VRAM).
Examples: NVIDIA GTX Titan X, NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti
