- LANDWorks®LT stands alone in ease of
use and is the most powerful and capable landscape design software
in its class. It has a clean and logical interface that is uncluttered
and uncomplicated.

- LANDWorks is much easier to master
than software such as AutoCAD® (which is better suited to
engineers and surveyors), and yet LANDWorks is
not limited like typical home-user software found in retail stores
that often produce child-like plans and ugly seudo-real 3D views.
- This program is clearly designed
for professional users, without compromise.

- LANDWorks suits
users from locations as diverse as Australia, Asia, Europe, Japan,
North America, Africa, New Zealand, South America...in fact because
the software is so flexible, users can edit the database to suite plants from every region around
the globe. The system operates in both Imperial and Metric units.
- LANDWorks is
compatible with files created with AutoCAD® and many other
software programs, allowing you to share your designs with Architects,
town planners, surveyors and public authorities. You can open
and edit their files or even scan and accurately scale existing
paper based drawings ready to start your design.
- LANDWorks
uses a simple Microsoft
Excel® database that allows you to nominate environmental
conditions, cultivars, colour, shape, size availability etc and
then offers you a palette of the most appropriate plants to be
placed directly in your drawing.
- Select from African, Asian,
Australian, European, North American, tropical, temperate, desert
etc from LANDWorks® extensive, beautifully-drawn plant
library.

- LANDWorks®
lets you add
your own plant symbols
relevant to your design style. This is very important as you
will always want to customise your software to have the plants
you favour or those that are available in your area.
- Scanned drawings
can be imported into
LANDWorks LT
where they can be accurately
rescaled and used as an underlay for your Designs. Ideal too
for aerial photographs and site plan information.
- Photographs and other Bitmap images can be incorporated into your drawing
sheets, allowing for complex logo's and illustrations as part
of any drawing.
- Newly released v5 Landworks
allows you to create a simplified Sketch Plan and at the click
of the mouse switch to a Detail Plan by swapping the plants to
more detailed views. Another click and the whole drawing is again
switched to a colour Presentation Plan and in the 3D Pro version
you may present
your ideas to your clients with
LANDWorks® rendered
plans, elevations, isometric, axonometric and perspective views.

- Click on a plant or feature
and LANDWorks® will give you the correctly named
label (call-out) to place just where you want, in the style you
choose.
- Select an area and fill
it with plants, paving, tone or colour shading. Developers, environmental
and town planners can even overlay different zones to explore a sites potential,
or explain a regions features graphically.
- Instant, accurate measurement
tools assist in costing and calculating job requirements with
confidence. Calculate
areas, lengths and quantities straight off the drawing, even around complex curves.
- Plants can be made to
populate an area or border with specified spacing or quantity.
- A fully automatic plant schedule
and legend is generated
and updated when changes are made.
- Reticulation, sprinkler,
irrigation and drainage design are assisted by the wide array
of CAD tools provided.
- LANDWorks®
growth calculator allows plants to be viewed at various stages
in their life cycle, projecting growth over time. (Pro version
only)

- Both mouse and keyboard entry is available. Each command can to be allocated to
a keyboard shortcut. This allows regular users rapid access to
favourite commands. You can also create your own customised icon
tool pallets of commonly used commands for easy access and speed.

- LANDWorks support is excellent. Apart from the standard Windows
help files, the software gives you access to a printable tutorial
that will get you started.
- The best part thought is the
video tutorials,
these explain all the major functions in an easy to understand
manner. You won't need to wade knee-deep through a thick manual
and take months or years to use the software. It's like having
your own personal tutor that you can call upon to review at any
time.
- And if you want
to fast track in just a few days we offer one and two day face-
to-face, hands-on courses all over the world based on demand.
- LANDWorks has an array of tools that are missing
in many other programs costing thousands more...
- Hatching
for instance can be inserted in a single click or inside a pre-defined
boundary or carefully placed point to point. It can be as simple
as a few parallel lines and colour fill, or as complex as any
design you create. Anything you draw can become an instant hatch pattern. Simply save your drawing with two defining
points and it is yours to use as a scalable repeatable hatch
pattern. It's that easy.
- Intuitive
Location of end points,
tangency, perpendicularity, mid-points, distances along lines,
centers, intersections are achieved very intelligently, making
drawings accurate and fast.
- Basic Windows Edit, Cut, Copy
and Paste commands are also used for faster drawing manipulation.
- LANDWorks even has a tool for measuring the position
of two offsets...so you can place a tree for instance, by telling
the system how far from the fence and the side of the buiding.
- LANDWorks Editable drawings can
be used with any Windows application including MS Word,
Excel and Image editors, allowing you to combine drawings
into your letters, quotations, brochures or web site. You
can even use this same feature to cut and paste between two or
more drawing files at the same time.
- One of the more advanced tools
allows users to paste multiple views at different scales on one or more 'virtual' drawing sheets
(Could be described as a view of views). This means that if any
single view is updated, all the related views automatically update on the sheets at the same time! Each view can have
its own layers switched on or off to display the desired information.
- Multiple
'sheets' can also be
open at the same time in a single file, keeping all drawings
pertaining to one job together.
- LANDWorks Line
styles can be edited and new ones can be created in a similar
way to the hatch patterns. Advanced users can create your own
line styles and save them for future use at any time. We found
the dialogue box for this feature a little confusing but worked
it out after a couple of attempts.
- Rarely found in CAD software,
but absolutely brilliant, is LANDWorks ability
to arrange
items just like desktop publishing software. Items can be "sent to the back" or
"brought to the front" to make selected objects obscure
(overlap) others as desired. This can also make hatching complex
areas very easy.
- Transparency levels can also
be used to reveal what is otherwise hidden.
- Any
dimension style you want
is available including arrow types and textural attributes. All
elements of the dimensions can be altered and text can be moved
whilst remaining associated to the dimension lines.
- With LANDWorks
mixed scale
and units are also possible.
Landworks can also convert
Metric and Imperial drawings
instantly.
- Standard CAD tools such as Layers are enhanced. They can be named, switched, be used to select
desired objects, be worked on idependantly, and can even be used
to display different items in each individual view on your virtual
sheet. A convenient layer window can also be invoked to give
the user quick access to layer controls. In essence, LANDWorks
layer tools give you full control over what you see, locate and
edit in your drawing.
- Colours are infinitely variable and can be used
both for artistic effect and to differentiate parts of the drawing
or line styles etc. You can even search for all items of the
same colour when making sweeping changes.
- Changes to your design are
made easier by LANDWorks
sketch and
stretch technology. Items
can be roughed in and later stretched to the desired size.
- Basic library objects can even
be parametrically
modified by simply adjusting
the dimension itself. Items such as hatch patterns & dimensions update
automatically as objects
are stretched into new positions.
- The unlimited undo and redo allows
users to be quite carefree as they work, secure in the knowledge
that they can go back to any stage in the drawing, not just to
the last function.
- LANDWorks allows any set of selected objects to
be "glued together" as one 'Group'
. This facilitates easy selection and editing within complex
drawings. Items can be ungrouped at any time or have individual
elements added, edited or removed. Very handy when working on
complex assemblies or even a group of related items such as a
table and chairs that need to stay together.
- Another unique feature of LANDWorks
is RealFIGURE. Any drawing can be inserted as a library object (figure). These inserted objects can remain linked
to the original library object so that changes to the library object are instantly
reflected in every drawing that contains
them. They can be separated (exploded) from the library for independent
editing if desired.
- With the aid of our companion
imaging software, LANDWorks® creates Artistic renditions of
your designs in sharp-colour , soft effects, muted tones, pastel,
charcoal, water-colour, felt-pen, or any number of specialsed
effects as well as traditional black and white or colour line
drawing. There is even a tool you can add to make your CAD line
drawings look like they were done by hand!
- A complete 3D Digital
Terrain Model (DTM) can be generated from height information
entered in plan. LANDWorks® Pro
automatically draws contours from the 3D terrain. (Pro version
only)
- Static or animated sun
studies in LANDWorks® Pro
allow for shadow calculations at any time of day anywhere in
the world.
- Road and path tools in
LANDWorks® Pro assist
in design and formation of battered banks and retaining walls
cutting automatically into the 3D terrain.
