EliteCAD ARS is a parametric CAD program, with which you are able to quickly define or adjust a range of complex structural components such as windows, doors, walls and roofs. The integrated freeform module enables an interactive method of defining complex three-dimensional elements and objects such as facades, roofs, sanitary utilities, furniture, design objects and ramps.
EliteCAD ARS is a modern 3D-CAD Software, which supports a project from design, to presentation and all the way through to execution and detail planning. The detailed bill of quantities delivers values of area, curvature and building elements, and gives you the possibility to use these in various layouts for tendering or cost predictions.
EliteCAD ARS is produced as a model-orientated 3D CAD System. The model is directly linked to the corresponding plans, sections and elevations. Any changes or definitions to the model can therefore be made in any of the views, whether in plan or perspective view. The presentation of these plans is carried out according to the required display quality and standards. In Switzerland the SIA400 standard is used, in Germany the DIN 1356, in Austrian the Standard of O-Norm etc. You are able to create as many plans and modes of representation of the constructed model. All the plans and views remain associatively linked with the model so that any changes to the model its self will be transmitted to them all.
EliteCAD AR includes a fantastic render engine, which can render a photorealistic image of your project with the simple click of a button. Perspective views, Facades with text and interior views are computed to a high standard using a ray-tracing technology. The precise light distribution is calculated through the use of the radiosity function and with this function creates realistic light conditions. If a change should be made to the model, all the corresponding views, plans or mass-figures are automatically updated to match.
Dynamic 3D Model
For the spatial navigation and editing of the model, the computer mouse is used to dynamically rotate the 3D model and zoom or out. Thus the desired position within the model is quickly reached. By clicking on a floor level, the plan and detailed information for that particular level in the model are immediately available.
A complex form-language such as appears in sanitary appliances, sofas or futuristic architecture for example is preferably implemented through use of the freeform technology. Based on the NURBS technology (Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline), the freeform function allows even the most complex form defined graphically and spatially, to be optimized and changed.
There is a diverse range of tools available for the spatial navigation. The colour coordination system found below the edit box lets you know at all times in which level you are currently located within the model. An active real-time shader or hidden-line calculation ensures an optimum overview. In this way complex route-networks can be clearly structured and you are able to use Elite CAD AR in a more intuitive way.
The BIM (Building Information Model) is a technology in which all information is displayed within a 3-dimentsional model. Planners can access these values and their results can further develop the model itself. This technology enables buildings to be planned much faster and more precisely than when the data exchange takes place my means of plans. Some of the BIM applications include the calculation of energy and structural elements, the creation of building service plans and the analysis of functions of complex buildings. The vendor interface IFX 2x3 functions as a cross trade application, which allows access to all technical components. The BIM technology not only speeds up the design but also provides real added value in the management of buildings.
EliteCAD AR is IFC 2X3 compatible. This allows an exchange of parametric information with other applications. The most important example for the use of the interface is the exchange of data between costs and tendering programs, energy calculation programs and house engineers and technicians. The Parametric is a technology in which all values of a component can be changed numerically or graphically and subsequent or dependent parts are automatically updated. This allows the generating of complex 3D components to be individual and simple. Following this; partial or total information of a component can be transferred to a selection and adjacent components will react coherently to such changes. This results in a high degree of planning flexibility and creative freedom. The application of this technology is widely used within industrial production and is presently available within EliteCAD AR for planners and architects.
In EliteCAD AR all the architectural components are parametrically available: Roofs, roof-structures, rafter framework, stairs, floors, windows, walls, doors, etc. A large variety of each of these is available to choose from. Individual adjustment of parametric components may be made by the infliction of drawings, which in turn are controlled by the parametric. This refined and sophisticated technology combines drawing with parametric capabilities, resulting in a maximum result of flexibility. The time saved by using this would be a tremendous benefit to you. In addition to the specific components in the architecture, 3D objects can also be parametrically and graphically controlled. Thus, a simple 3D body can be defined and changed either through masks or directly within the object’s parameters by adjusting its geometric, colour or material values.
Using sophisticated 3D parametric, any stairs can be created as a three-dimensional mapping as well as in 2D plans or 3D graphics. These stairs may be changed in any desired way and they are firmly embedded in the structure. If for example a change is made to a floor height or a ceiling thickness the stairs automatically follow these changes to correspond. Stairs can be displayed three-dimensionally and parametrically with a very high degree of detail. Using default options and the consideration of ergonomic forms within your staircase planning will increase the security of your stair design.
With the help of the parametrically driven railings, handrails and complex stair banisters are quickly created. The design can be complemented by means of profile drawings or library components. Should a staircase undergo design changes, the handrail will follows these and automatically adapts to the new stairs.
Thanks to the parametrics of EliteCAD AR stairs can be created efficiently in three dimensions and thus provide for design and construction with accurate information about the required space. The spatial image is available in a detailed form and can help you to assist with visual representations.
Roofs can be modelled and blended together using a hands-on method. The heights of the walls underneath the roof are automatically defined to fit the roof, and this intersection will remain associative. Roof structures can be arbitrarily placed into roofs to fit the desired form. They will respond to any changes in the roof geometry and to changes in floor heights.
Based on the roof surface, three-dimensional wooden roof structures are created quickly and in detail. The timber constructions elements are positioned automatically by means of the parametric design utility and can then be repositioned and re-dimensioned individually. Additional timber lists provide a concise overview of the dimension of the wood construction and form the basis for the tender.
Numerous amount of windows and doors are part of every building, yet construction types and different distinctions vary immensely. The parametric in EliteCAD AR allows customised designs to be efficiently created in three dimensions, while also offering the opportunity to graphically draw specific window details such as windowsills, frame profiles, or windowpane dimensions and then use these parametrically.
Graphical definition masks provide a hands-on method of working with construction components and offer a very simple and clear application designed especially for complex parts. Such specific settings can be saved in the database under a name and are then available to other users.
The 3D model of EliteCAD AR stands in relation to the plans. The portrayal of the plans is related to the current state of planning and is regulated through the database. Accordingly, the draft plans will be a reduction of the final draft and detailed plans. Changes made to a current state of planning can be optionally set to take affect on other planning states.
The style of presentation is available in different standards according to the circumstantial requirements of different countries: SIA400 Switzerland, Germany DIN 1356, Önorm etc. This allows a continuous project development to take place, without having to redraw multiple plans. Changes made to a current state of planning can be transferred and applied to other states of planning. The definition of depth of display is graphically definable and is therefore easily adaptable to individual needs.
EliteCAD AR includes a professional visualization, with which internal and external perspectives as well as façade views are rendered. Through the integration of visualization imagery is created, which always stays in relation to the model, meaning that any change is automatically reflected in the model. Time and effort to apply the definitions are saved since the materialisation is already within the building model. Extra material definitions are simply applied to the model through drag and drop.
The image calculation is largely based on the click of a button and is available for offices, which only use visualisations now and then. The technology behind it is a hybrid-rendering model, containing ray tracing and phong shading.
The positioning of the light sources and light distribution is a key issue in the visualization, because it determines how close to reality the image will present itself. EliteCAD AR supports a wide range of light sources, including points, spots, parallel, ambient light and sunlight. The parameters of all these lighting types can be set both graphically and numerically. Sunlight, for example assumes a particular geographical location, day, time of year, and the alignment to produce a realistic representation. A hemisphere model simulates the diffused radiation, and the precise light distribution is calculated through the use of radiosity.
EliteCAD AR has a professional quantity survey mechanism, which covers all surfaces, volumes, places, building components and self-defined parts in a relational database. Lists are issued from this database, which on one hand include the cost estimates, and on the other also serve as the global building overview and can include specific values for the tender. The data can be exported and further processed with interfaces such as ODBC or Excel to be used in other databases.
The large number of predefined lists makes it easy for you to use the data for the tender, the cost overview or for the ordering of specific parts. Lists include a number code, which is also found in the plans. Thus the values of the lists can quickly be found in the plans. The database is based on a detailed space plan catalogue, which allows dimensions to be edited directly in the database and to be specifically optimized.
A large availability of various interfaces provides optimum compatibility between EliteCAD AR and other CAD programs. There are interfaces available in various forms based on vectors, pixels, database and objects. Parameters to control the qualitative data transfer and various application versions are also accounted for.
With over 5,000 construction-specific library components in 2D and 3D you can quickly and accurately supplement your 3D models and drawings. The Library is specifically adapted to the requirements of respective countries and meets the current local planning and design standards. This enables EliteCAD AR to be used quickly and productively. Existing libraries can also be used in EliteCAD through interfaces. Tools for graphical selection and intuitive manipulation during placement are self-evident.
Pixel and Material Database
A large pixel and material database is available for the materialization of the model with textures and colours. These textures and colours are applied to the model through drag and drop. As the materials and texture content in a model can be very large, it is managed through the MYSQL database. The database has a graphical preview and can be easily supplemented with your own material definitions and textures. A graphically orientated interface is available for specific settings.
Applications that are used sporadically, such as terrain, drainage, or prefabricated elements are available in EliteCAD in modular form. These can be used within a network of several license-bearing workstations. The license server automatically controls the use of the software, enabling you to use the modules in EliteCAD flexibly and inexpensively.
The drainage module creates three-dimensional computer-aided drainage networks. You can define points of inlet heights and cross sections, and indicate the drainage network course in the floor plan. The sewerage network is then supplemented with mud collectors, shafts, and inclines downpipes. Subsequently, a three-dimensional coloured drainage network will be established. The drainage network is also shown in sections and elevations. The mass calculation takes the necessary parts, such as pipes, taps, reducers, collectors etc, and provides an order list. In order to create lettering for the drainage network the corresponding lines simply need to be typed in and the marking is done automatically.
The drainage module is fully integrated into EliteCAD AR and is associatively linked to the floor plans and sections, yet also runs as a stand-alone package.
The terrain module in EliteCAD AR is used both in architecture and landscape architecture and is fully integrated into the plan views of sections, elevations and floor plans. The module additionally runs as a stand-alone package.
A three-dimensional terrain is created through the reading of XYZ ASCII or Interlis data. The depiction of contour lines is dependent on the regulation of equidistance. The terrain is affected by changing the amount of points or lines.
The terrain module in EliteCAD AR can calculate the mass of an excavation from the terrain and spread the excavated material back around the site.
An earthworks function is incorporated within the terrain module, which provides opportunities to define clearings and supporting walls. The road function enables the development of a road along a linear guide and can be generated parametrically.
Any changes in volume within the site or terrain are shown both numerically and graphically. In contrast to a terrain, which has for example been imported as a DXF, this terrain remains malleable and alterable. You therefore do not need to move individual vectors, as the 3D vector points adjust to match the surrounding terrain automatically. This enables you to plan a site much faster and more efficiently in the future. This also ensures that your architecture is planned more accurately within the terrain and that you maintain an overview of the size of earth movements.
New energy standards such as Minergie, Minergie-P and Minergie-ECO make traditional construction methods more of a challenge. This has lead to industrial pre-fabricated housing becoming an interesting alternative.
Messerli Informatik has come up with a software module, programmed especially for pre-fabrication, which allows you to produce fabrication schedules and part lists based on a 3D model. EliteCAD AR provides a comprehensive solution to the fabrication process from conception to production; including the design, presentation and working drawings all the way through to the automated fabrication.
The prefabrication process can be segmentary. This permits trades firms to produce plans and build the wood elements by hand. As an intermediate step, the wood elements can be automatically fabricated with CNC machines and in a full phase of renovation the entire production can be computer controlled. The pre-fabrication module is an addition to EliteCAD AR.
