BricsCAD Pro is the advanced version of BricsCAD sporting all the same features and tools found in BricsCAD Classic and also with ACIS® Solid Modeling, Editing and VBA.
See the comparison between BricsCAD® and AutoCAD® versions

BricsCAD Pro is probably the best AutoCAD® alternative platform offering a complete and recognisable feature set to professional users. BricsCAD reads and writes the native DWG™ format and offers complete compatibility with AutoCAD® files.

Basically, BricsCAD looks, feels and works like AutoCAD® but without the same price tag. BricsCAD even supports hundreds of applications designed to run with AutoCAD® such as StrucPLUS. More...

BricsCAD Pro Highlights

The combination of DWG™ compatibility, recognizable interface, real day-to-day support and a reasonable price for new licenses and upgrades are key in this success. It makes BricsCAD the best choice for replacing AutoCAD® licenses or adding a lot of seats to an existing AutoCAD® environment.

Powerful 3D Render Engine

BricsCAD Pro has an extremely powerful rendering engine allowing to work in permanent render mode. Materials and lights can be created and edited in the Materials section of the Drawing Explorer.

3D Drawing

3D Direct Modeling

BricsCAD offers powerful tools for direct solid modeling using our geometric constraints solver. Direct modeling operations apply to all ACIS solid geometry, whether created in BricsCAD or imported. Furthermore, a key feature of the BricsCAD direct editing capabilities is the preservation of design intent, vastly simplifying the work on complex designs.

Assembly modeling

Assembly modeling allows you to organize .dwg files in hierarchical structures of mechanical components to model complex products. Assemble your products with both top-down and bottom-up design and compose your assembly with ease with the powerful 3D constraints between faces and edges of different mechanical components.

3D constraints

BricsCAD offers powerful tools for direct solid modeling using geometric constraints solving. Solid models can be modified by defining constraints between its elements. If there is a 3D constraint which fixes the placement of faces or edges, this constraint will be preserved during your modeling operations. It allows you to parametrize any feature of the 3D model.

Sheet Metal

The new sheet metal design capabilities in BricsCAD create sheet metal parts by extruding 2D profiles and then adding new flanges through pulled edges. Bends, junctions and reliefs are added automatically. All direct modeling operations and 3D constraints can be applied to editing sheet metal parts. To output designs to computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) systems, sheet metal parts can be unfolded automatically and then exported to 2D .dxf files.

Generative drafting

Since the introduction of direct modeling functions in BricsCAD, the function most requested by users was the ability to generate associative 2D and 3D drawing views from 3D models. With BricsCAD, Bricsys introduces new commands to automatically generate orthographic, isometric, and section views. The views are updated automatically when the 3D model changes.

Exchange

BricsCAD Communicator

BricsCAD Communicator is an optional module to the BricsCAD Pro and Platinum editions that provides support for high quality 3D data exchange between major CAD formats. It facilitates the import and export of 3D CAD data including neutral (e.g. STEP and IGES), native MCAD (e.g. CATIA, Inventor, SolidWorks) and kernel specific formats.

Dimensions and Annotating

Dimensioning with in-place editing

The QDim command Creates a series of dimensions from a selection of entities. The following dimension types are available: continuous, staggered, baseline, ordinate, radius and diameter.

Annotative Scales

The Annotative Scale property of an entity allows users to control the scaling of entities so that they display and print at the correct size. Entity types that obey annotative scaling include: texts, hatches, tables, dimensions, tolerances and (multi)leaders.

Multi Leaders

The Multi Leader command allows users to quickly create leaders using predefinded properties which are saved in a Multileader Style. The content of a multileader can be either text or a block. Additional arrowheads can be added or removed.

Interface

Quad

The intelligent Quad is an alternative to grip-editing of entities, offering a much richer set of editing operations while requiring fewer clicks, without cluttering the screen with loads of grip-glyphs. The context-sensitive Quad facilitates easy and fast editing of 3D solids but also enhanced editing of 2D entity types.

Updated interface

The re-designed BricsCAD interface maintains all the powerful features you know and love, but presents them within a clean and consistent user experience.

Settings manager

In the Settings Dialog you can check or modify the current value of all settings. The settings can be viewed alphabetically or categorized, grouping related settings in a tree view. The built-in search feature lets you find settings quickly and intuitively.

Drawing explorer

The Drawing Explorer is a versatile dialog box which allows you to control all settings, including internal and external resources, needed to create and edit drawings. You can copy definitions between open drawings using drag-and-drop. The Folders section lets you preview and open drawings. Blocks that exist in these drawings can be inserted in the current drawing, without opening the source drawing. Here you have also access to the drawings on your Chapoo account. The Sheets section helps you to manage sheet sets: open, create, import, export, print, publish or etransmit.

Attribute management

BATTMAN (Block Attribute Manager): this command allows users to edit all attribute properties and settings in a block definition, then synchronize the changes in all block references.

Sheetsets Manager

A sheet set is a collection of layouts from different drawing files. The Sheet Set manager lets you manage existing sheets sets and create new ones from scratch or based on a template sheet. Sheet sets can be published, printed and e-transmitted.

Layer explorer and filter

The layer explorer facilitates detailed layer management and also provides tools such as layer filters and layer states.

Block manager

Browse blocks in non-open drawings and insert them in the current drawing from the new Blocks panel in the Drawing Explorer.

Other Features

3D Mouse support

BricsCAD now supports 3Dconnexion 3D mice. With a 3D mouse you can simultaneously pan, zoom and rotate 3D content while your standard mouse is free to select menu items of parts of the model.
